Sidney Lanier High, again, is in the Super Bowl.

Tarvaris Jackson is going to his second straight Super Bowl as a backup quarterback with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks will try for their second straight championship when they face the New England Patriots on Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz., in Super Bowl XLIX.

Jackson, who also played at Alabama State, is one of six players with state ties on the two rosters.

Seattle also features three former University of Alabama players: offensive lineman James Carpenter, receiver Kevin Norwood and defensive lineman Jesse Williams. Williams is on injured reserve.

New England has cornerback Malcolm Butler, who played at West Alabama, and linebacker Dont'a Hightower, who played at Alabama.

Lanier alumni have long been part of the Super Bowl.

Jeno James was with the Carolina Panthers for Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. Reggie Barlow was in Super Bowl XXXVII for Tampa Bay in 2003.

Bart Starr was the most valuable player of the first two Super Bowls for the Green Bay Packers. Johnny Davis (49ers, 1982) and Richmond Flowers (Cowboys, 1971) also played in Super Bowls.
