NEED ANSWERS?

1)How is Parent Engagement important to my child's education?

2)What are some things that parents can do to become engaged in their child's education?

3)Where can I find more information on how to help out at my child's school?

Hello, my name is Cubie Rae Hayes. I have served as a substitute teacher at Lanier High School for the last three years and have had the opportunity to interact with almost every student in the Castle. I am honored to have the opportunity to now serve as your Parent Liaison, and look forward to serving as a bridge of communication between you, the parents of our students, the teachers and school administrators.

Here, at Lanier High School, we take great pride in the success and achievements of our students. Therefore, communication is vital for the academic success of our students.

Our mission is to keep you, the parents of our students, well informed and current about what your child is learning and how they are progressing as they prepare for life after high school.

We wish to keep you mindful of school activities and provide you with any information you may need related to school policies, graduation requirements, college, and other opportunities available for your child.

My role as your Parent Liaison:

Facilitate parent-school communication;

Facilitate community agency referrals;

Encourage parent involvement in the school;

Foster trust between parents and the educational community;

Foster higher academic achievement through collaboration with school personnel.

DATES TO REMEMBER

October is Parent Involvement Month

October is the time of year when Alabama holds a statewide campaign to raise awareness of the importance of parental involvement and the key role that parents play in their child’s education. It is a time that our local school systems make that extra effort to invite parents to visit their local schools and learn how they can become partners in their child’s education. This year’s theme is “Homes and Schools: Building Futures Together.” Please make plans to visit us this month!
